The position is Staff Data Scientist on Zendesk's AI Security team, responsible for envisioning and developing ML/AI approaches to detect anomalous activity and AI security risks, collaborating with Security Engineers, Software Engineers, ML researchers, and product teams to produce actionable insights and models that protect customers and prevent product abuse.
Responsibilities include running and improving Zendesk's AI Security evaluation platform, analyzing large-scale behavioral and user interaction data to identify abuse patterns and automate methodologies, and developing detection models using offline data to inform production implementation.
The role also involves improving detection accuracy for existing spam detection projects with minimal false positives, collaborating cross-functionally to implement prevention strategies from data insights, and mentoring and providing technical leadership on projects.
Required qualifications include an advanced degree in CS, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience, 5+ years of ML/AI experience in fraud/anomaly/security, strong SQL and Python skills with data processing frameworks, fluency with AI-assisted programming tools, and experience with various statistical/ML/time-series techniques and distributed computing environments like Spark and Snowflake.
