The Senior Data Governance Program Manager will translate GitLab’s data governance and quality strategy into cross-functional programs, aligning the Enterprise Data Team with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, Product, and others. You will establish a scalable data governance framework, run an operating cadence, staff data steward roles, ensure data governance policies and quality standards, and provide transparent reporting on status and risks. Qualifications include experience leading complex data governance and data quality programs across multiple domains, knowledge of data management and catalog concepts, and the ability to translate requirements into actionable work and influence across functions. The role is Intermediate Backend Engineer on the next-generation Security Platform Management team, building greenfield enterprise security solutions and owning backend systems and APIs such as a new Security Manager role system, asset inventory with posture sharing, and unified configuration across GitLab's security tools, with a distributed team across the US, Israel, and India. Responsibilities include designing and developing the security platform capabilities in Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL, building scalable services, and maintaining REST and GraphQL APIs, while collaborating with Infrastructure, Policies, and Security Insights teams and contributing to architecture decisions. The team is part of GitLab’s Security Risk Management, consisting of eight backend engineers, one Product Manager, and one UX designer, focused on greenfield, cross-functional delivery in an asynchronous, all-remote environment.
