The Senior Backend Developer (Cloud) role involves joining the engineering team to build flagship Jira Cloud products (Tempo Timesheets, Capacity Planner, Financial Manager) by collaborating across product managers, designers, developers, QA, and technical writers, with a focus on solving customers’ problems through clean, maintainable code. Responsibilities include writing efficient code in Kotlin/Java, creating tests, performing code reviews, and addressing user experience, security, and performance while delivering Atlassian plugins used by thousands at major companies. Qualifications include 4+ years of server-side development in Java/Kotlin, knowledge of Typescript/React is a plus, a CS/software engineering degree, API design skills, experience with scalable distributed systems, Kubernetes and AWS, SQL and NoSQL, and strong English communication plus the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment with evolving specifications. What You’ll Do - 

• Work closely with the product managers to deliver the vision and strategy for Tempo.io's products, ensuring alignment with company objectives and a deep understanding of customer needs
• Work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and customer support teams to deliver innovative, high-quality customer experiences. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and efficiency
• Lead the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features and enhancements
• Engage with stakeholders, including customers, business leaders, and internal teams, to gather requirements and feedback
• Prioritize and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that high-value items are addressed promptly
• Continuously assess and adjust priorities based on changing customer needs, market conditions, and team feedback
• Write and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items to guide the development team effectively
• Communicate product updates and progress, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations
• Utilize internal and external data to inform decisions, guide experimentation, and measure the success of product initiatives
• Make informed trade-off decisions between scope, budget, and timelines to maximize value delivery
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

Who You Are - 

• 5+ years of product ownership or technical product management experience in a software or technology environment
• Experience delivering highly complex consumer or enterprise software products from inception to launch in a B2C or B2B setting
• Proven track record of delivering complex products with a successful launch to market
• Strong understanding of product development processes and experience working with engineering teams
• Proven ability to engage with customers and translate their needs into actionable product requirements
• Excellent technical and communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders
• Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
• Experience using data and analytics to make informed product decisions and measure success
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus
