- Atlassian is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Atlassian Design System (ADS) in Dev Infra to help create a cohesive, expressive, accessible, and performant design language across Atlassian apps.
- You’ll be part of the Design Language team that maintains a React component library of 100+ packages, design tokens, theming infrastructure, guidelines and patterns, the atlassian.design site, and AI agent context for AI-enabled development.
- The role involves leading the technical vision and architecture of ADS, planning projects, de-risking delivery, and championing standards, including initiatives like a new motion system and enterprise-scale theming/branding for generative UI.
- You’ll ensure quality and scale, balance design intent with technical feasibility, collaborate cross-functionally with designers, engineers, and product leaders, and drive staged Atlassian-wide rollouts to land impact for customers.
- The position emphasizes improving productivity through tooling, migrations, deduplication, and automation, while mentoring senior engineers, and offers flexible work arrangements with the ability to hire in any country where Atlassian has a legal entity.
