Your future team

You will be part of a world-class Data Engineering team that leverages data to drive insights about our products and customers. The UI Platform (UIP) team creates platforms, tools, and services for developers, designers, and content designers to create a consistent experience across Atlassian's products. This is a unique opportunity to influence important technical decisions across the company. Atlassian Cloud Storage Engineering (ACSE) is composed of infrastructure teams tasked with developing and upkeeping the persistent data stores used by Atlassian's product and platform teams. The Managed Search team has set ambitious goals, including enhancing Search operational efficiencies company-wide, improving cluster reliability, cutting down the Total Cost of Ownership (Search TCO) across Atlassian, and enhancing Trust (Security & Compliance).

In pursuit of these goals, the Managed Search team is developing a self-hosted search platform for use within Atlassian, aiming to achieve the ACSE vision to improve the clock speed of Atlassian by providing reliable, secure and cost effective storage solutions.

This position is for a Senior Engineer on the ACSE Kratos (Managed Search team ~15 engineers) reporting to Senior Engineering Manager. This role will require deep, hands-on operational work to run high-quality search infrastructure, outstanding collaboration skills to work effectively within a distributed team and engage with a broad range of internal customers, solid industry knowledge and technical curiosity to assess when best to build, and great design and hands-on development skills to build automation and peripheral tooling.

As a Senior Engineer, you will contribute to the architectural and technical direction of the Managed Search team, help set the standard for engineering practices and provide mentoring to more junior team members. You will also work with teams across Atlassian to provide guidance around search solutions, identify cross-cutting areas where the platform can be enhanced and design platform capabilities.

Here, you'll collaborate with and provide guidance to experienced and inquisitive engineers to build the infrastructure that enables thousands of Atlassians to deploy and operate search applications in the cloud.

Senior Engineer Responsibilities & Activities:

Your future team

As a member of our team, you will report to Trust Systems Engineering manager. You will build and operate platforms to guarantee availability, performance and stability of Atlassian's security tools and services. You will also lead our team's security project milestones to improve our security posture.

In this role, you will:

• Architect deployment of platforms to enhance availability, performance and stability of both custom-built and third-party security platforms, and automating away repetitive work

• Manage relationship with third-party cybersecurity vendors and act as a platform owner to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and meeting our goals

• Work on non-production and production environments: monitoring, data collection and configuration management, as well as disaster recovery planning, capacity engineering, reliability improvement, and platform automation

• Respond to internal support requests, pages and alerts to investigate issues in our services to challenge your technical abilities

• Participate in paid 24x7 on-call rotation to support our platforms

• Partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to accomplish Trust and Security initiatives and objectives through deployment of custom and third-party tools

We’re looking to add a Senior Data Scientist to the Loom Product team to help us drive activation, engagement and retention by driving value for both creators and viewers on our platform. The Core Product team at Loom is taking AI-led bets to transform video creation and editing, we’re looking for an data science excelling in using data insights to shape the team’s direction.

We use rich, complex datasets and for wide variety of analytical tasks, ranging from conducting ad-hoc research, creating dashboards, building funnels, designing and evaluating tests, crafting complex database queries and ETL pipelines, and developing sophisticated predictive models. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, intellectually curious, and a clear communicator.

Your Role

• Collaborate on a variety of product and business problems with a diverse set of cross-functional partners and become a trusted strategic partner through the structure and clarity of your work.

• Apply technical expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, and the presentation of data to develop strategies for our business and help solve the business's biggest challenges.
